Choosing the Right Beer after Hauling

You just came back from your run and are reaching in your fridge for a beer when to your shock you realize that you forgot to buy more beer the last time that you went shopping. Within 10 minutes you’re at your local grocery store ready to buy more beer but the question is: which beer should you buy?

You can stick with the old favorites like Coors, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Corona or you can be daring and try something different like one of the german beer brands.

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

This beer is easy to spot in any liquor or grocery store, the bottle has a picture of the “mad monk” Rasputin on it. What makes this imperial stout different from other stouts is that it has a tan head, malty aroma that will make you think of cocoa or hops and it goes down very smooth. Unlike other beers that are hard to drink, Old Rasputin won’t leave you with a bitter after taste, you will want another after you finish drinking your first one.

Sierra Nevada Stout

Sierra Nevada beers have been very popular for years and their stout is a nice addition to their long line of great beers. This beer comes with a basic full body with a brown head. What makes this beer different than other stouts is that the head will last almost until you’ve finished drinking the beer. Sierra Nevada Stout has a delicious flavor that will remind you of molasses and it does have a slight bitterness but it won’t lead to a hardcore bitter finish like other beers.

Weyerbacher Winter Ale

If you’re reading this during the winter, you should look for a bottle of Weyerbacher Winter Ale. This beer has a nice, rich mahogany color with an excellent clarity. When you smell it you will notice a molasses scent that isn’t overpowering and has a delicious fruity taste with a hint of chocolate that will linger on your tongue.
